About the Apparition at Lourdes (from the Vatican Mini Sheet):
On Thursday, 11 February 1858, Bernadette, her sister and a friend went to collect firewood along the banks of the river Gave in Massabielle (Lourdes). While Bernadette was taking off her shoes before crossing the stream, she heard a noise which sounded like a rush of wind. Raising her eyes towards a grotto, she noticed a lady dressed in white with a blue belt and a yellow rose on each foot.
150 years after that event, Lourdes has become one of the most visited Marian shrines in the world. Every year millions of pilgrims visit the shrine for prayer, compassion and hope.
