In 1945, after the end of World War II, a parish priest in Berlin, Germany suggested that an image of Our Lady of Fatima be made to travel through all the capitals and major cities of Europe. The following year, a representative from Luxembourg at the International Council of Women’s Catholic Youth gave their support to this idea. In 1947, the first Pilgrim Image of Our Lady of Fatima was made according to the instructions of Sister Lucia and was blessed by the Bishop of Leiria. The image was also crowned by the Archbishop of Évora. Since then, the Pilgrim Image of Our Lady of Fatima has visited more than 64 countries in different continents, spreading he story of the apparitions of Fatima and spreading a message of peace and love.
