In recent years the world has been re-introduced by Pope Francis to Mary as the gateway to Jesus' great mercy.

Pope Francis has spoken in several of his reflections to us about the devotion that, later in life and amid a trying time, would become one of his particular favorites: Mary, Untier (or Undoer) of Knots. The 17th century cult the now-Pope encountered during his brief exile in Germany in the late 1980s, was introduced by him at home on his return to Buenos Aires, it to great effect.

This statue is a 3 dimensional depiction of the painting of Mary by the unknown artist that still hangs in the Church of St. Peter in Perlack, Germany.
