This is a modified version of the papal crucifix, that has been used by Pope's Paul VI, John Paul I, and St. John Paul II. It depicts Jesus just as he is dying, and giving us the gift of salvation. The bent wood symbolises the weight of the sins, that only Jesus could bare.
