Saint Kateri was the first Native American to become canonized. She was the daughter of a Christian woman but was married to a Mohawk chief. She converted to the Faith, was abused for her choice, and fled to a Christian Native American settlement. Many Christian Native Americas frequent her grave. She is a patroness of the environment. Feast day is July 14.
