New Revised Standard Version Bible With Apocrypha 5th Edition from Oxford University Press.
This is a nice Bible overall. The translation is very clear (especially in the NT) and is beautiful in its wording. The liberal bias of the translators shows through (see Acts 20:28, see the note there) at times, but it does not detract.
The translation is very readable, and the essays and annotations are terse and informative, providing much needed background and scholarship without ever overshadowing the text itself.
Now new editors and contributors have completely updated this classic work for a rising generation of scholars and readers. The result is a volume which maintains and extends the excellence the Annotated's users have come to expect, bringing new insights, information, and approaches to bear upon the understanding of the biblical text. Enhancements include: expanded annotations in a single column format; new background essays; a full index to all of the study materials (not just to the annotations) keyed to page numbers, not to citations;
Twenty new essays and introductions, including new essays on Time/Calendar and Languages of the Bible Fully revised and updated annotations to reflect the latest biblical scholarship Introductions and extensive annotations for each biblical book Informative essays on essential topics for biblical study Color maps, timelines, glossary, and an index to study materials approximately 40 in-text, line-drawing maps; and 64-page concordance (selected editions).
